GoldenGate Real-Time 2007 Annual User Conference Showcases How Real-Time Information Drives Competitive Advantage for Industry Leaders
Partners and Customers Agree: Access to Real-Time Data Holds New Possibilities for Delivering Strategic Value to Business
San Francisco, CA - June 25, 2007 - GoldenGate Software Inc., a leading provider of high availability and real-time data integration solutions, today announced the conclusion of GoldenGate Real-Time 2007 , the company's annual user conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Las Vegas. The event drew both business and technology leaders from a wide range of industries including banking, financial services, retail, healthcare and telecommunications, who are deploying real-time applications and infrastructures to drive competitive advantage. One overarching theme throughout the conference was that real-time information and access is no longer a "nice to have," but rather a "must have" for today's enterprise.
Ali Kutay, president and CEO of GoldenGate Software opened the conference and discussed how real-time access to real-time information is transforming business today. "The ability to make data instantly accessible and continuously available is driving top-line business growth and represents a significant competitive edge for businesses in every industry. Today's consumer is inundated with choice and does not have a strong loyalty to any one brand. Choices are driven by customer service levels and therefore all industries must focus on a deeper understanding of their customers' needs. Providing the business with fresh, accurate data about customers and the market is critical to gaining competitive advantage."
Kutay's keynote was followed by an informative CIO panel, comprised of technology leaders representing financial and securities, healthcare, retail and travel industries. Ken Harris, former CIO of PepsiCo, Nike and The Gap, moderated the panel, which included Roger Burkhardt, president and COO of Ingres Corporation and former CIO of NYSE, Craig Murphy, former CTO of Sabre Holdings, and Dr. Paul Whatling, clinical director of BT Health based in the U.K. The high-level discussion focused on the wide range of possibilities created by providing real-time information across multiple areas of the business. The panelists, who represented a variety of industry verticals, discussed what real-time meant for each. Craig Murphy, former CTO of Sabre Holdings, pointed out that their system was architected over four decades ago and yet, to realize their vision, real-time was the only option. The audience was excited to hear that IT can truly meet the needs of business today and in the future by architecting real-time systems.
According to panelist Whatling from BT Health, "We need to start looking at different ways to make technology work for us, to capitalize on the real-time technology that is available, and do something different. The attendees here at GoldenGate's conference are technology innovators and have only just begun to utilize real-time data, which is revolutionizing business process. I'm excited to hear about the different ways in which IT can shape the future of business."
Ron Swift, VP of cross industry solutions at Teradata, also presented a keynote and discussed the economics of active data warehousing and real-time business intelligence. Swift predicted that there will be thousands of users for real-time data leveraging active enterprise intelligence in the coming years as businesses learn to use this information to stay ahead of the competition and to better understand the customer.
The benefits of real-time access to real-time information was showcased in more than 24 sessions spread across four distinct tracks-business, technical, education, and best-practices. More than 70 percent of all sessions were presented by customers including Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Automatic Data Processors (ADP), Bank of America, DIRECTV, Mayo Clinic, MGM Mirage, Overstock.com, PROSA, Retail Decisions, Sabre Holdings, and U.S. Bank. Additionally, the conference was sponsored by GoldenGate partners: HP, IBM, Ingres, Teradata (a division of NCR), Fujitsu, FSS, GE Healthcare, and ACI Worldwide.
In the closing session, Larry DeBoever, managing director of EAdirections , wrapped up the conference by echoing the sentiments of speakers and attendees, "Business leaders and technologists must work together to truly understand how state-of-the-art technology can transform business."
