GoldenGate Customer Awarded InfoWorld CTO 25 for Leading Edge Technology Innovation
Chris Uriarte, CTO of Retail Decisions, Recognized for Global Expansion and Scalability Projects to Support Fraud Detection for World's Largest Retailers
San Francisco, CA - June 20, 2007 - GoldenGate Software Inc., a leading provider of high availability and real-time data integration solutions, today announced that Chris Uriarte, CTO of its customer Retail Decisions (ReD), has been named among the InfoWorld 2007 CTO 25 Awards. Each year, IDG's InfoWorld , the leading media brand for IT solutions management, honors IT executives who have shown leadership both inside and outside of their organizations. Uriarte was recognized for the successful global expansion of Retail Decisions' fraud detection platform, and a major infrastructure replacement project which included real-time transactional data management technology from GoldenGate Software.
"This year's CTO 25 award winners are true visionaries who believe that leading edge technology equals leading edge business," said Steve Fox, InfoWorld editor in chief. "Their constant invention and reinvention of strategic tools, coupled with an eagle eye for business opportunity, provide a blueprint for IT success."
ReD, a payment card issuer and a world leader in card fraud prevention and payment processing, handled 11 billion of the 65 billion worldwide credit card transactions last year, a number which Uriarte expects to grow. "We needed a mega-scalable architecture capable of handling increasing holiday e-commerce traffic, while meeting our retail customers' stringent service level agreements."
According to Uriarte, the eight month project called for zero downtime and no margin for error. Under his direction, ReD installed new Sun and Dell servers, upgraded Oracle databases, and replaced its homegrown data replication system with a new global real-time, high-speed solution from GoldenGate Software.
Recently, Uriarte was a featured presenter at the GoldenGate Real-Time 2007 user conference, where he emphasized the mission-critical nature of the GoldenGate solution for the ReD platform, which supports fraud detection for the world's largest retailers. He explained, "If our fraud detection system is down, we're essentially out of business."
"Chris Uriarte is among a group of young, visionary technologists successfully bridging flexible, real-time technologies with formidable business objectives. His accomplishments in the field of fraud detection show how innovative IT can drive business success on a global scale," said Ali Kutay, president and CEO of GoldenGate Software. "We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to a continued relationship with ReD to demonstrate the value of real-time access to real-time information."
