Sabre stated that addition of Travel Impressions takes the number of tour operators offered through Sabre Vacations to 18. Sabre Vacations is a private-label version of Trisept Solutions' VAX VacationAccess. The latest development provides travel agents with leisure vacation packages to over 150 destinations and over 1,100 resorts and hotels worldwide.
Larry Lynch, vice president of eCommerce for Travel Impressions said with the expansion of company's product line, the company sought a new Web-based platform to reach greater numbers of travel agents. Lynch added that through Sabre Vacations, the company will be able to increase its exposure to travel agents and offer valuable services, such as detailed property descriptions with graphics and e-mail alerts on promotions to their customers.
In a separate development, Sabre Holdings has stated that by using GoldenGate and MySQL together, the company has the option of scaling to meet its changing needs.
Sabre uses GoldenGate and MySQL for the Air Travel Shopping Engine (ATSE), which is now used by all Sabre-connected travel agents in North America. "GoldenGate helped Sabre migrate critical data from proprietary platforms to open systems and open source technology, enabling the company to gain cost efficiencies and support unprecedented transaction volumes. Today, GoldenGate captures critical information for Sabre, including schedules, pricing and availability, and delivers it in real time across heterogeneous database environments to enable high-speed online searches," says an official statement.
"Because GoldenGate can deliver very large volumes of data in real time, we can implement database tiering across our proprietary and open source databases quickly and flawlessly," said Alan Walker, vice president of technology for Sabre Holdings.
