GoldenGate, a leader in global data synchronization, will announce the newest version of its flagship software platform next Monday. Data synchronization is used in a wide range of applications, including business continuity, disaster recovery, data center consolidation and integration, system migration, application integration and active data warehousing.
... GoldenGates' technology goes beyond data replication and standard extract, transform and load (ETL) operations. "We have a bigger vision of data movement," Larry Wilk, senior vice president, told 5 Minute Briefing in an airport interview. The technology is used to efficiently capture, transform and securely deliver data both internally and outside the enterprise to suppliers, customers and partners.
... Version 7 has several important new features focused on improving the speed of data movements, the volume of data handled, and the diversity of data sources. Version 7 offers sophisticated conflict detection and resolution, enhanced high-speed data loading capabilities, powerful security protection through 128-bit encryption of data during transmission between systems and outside the enterprise, support for MySQL, a popular open source database and native, log-based data capture for Sybase databases.
... Version 7 also offers improved administration features with new Web-based Activity Console, which provides users with a graphical real-time view of all data synchronization functions. "For a long time we were the best kept secret in Silicon Valley," said Deirdre Mahon, the director of marketing. The company was established in 1995 and used extensively in the Tandem marketplace, including in the management of ATM banking networks. Since then, it has been ported to work with every major database platform. For more information, go to www.goldengate.com.
